If you've ever wandered the freezer section in any grocery store, you've probably seen Amy's Kitchen prepackaged organic foods. The company also has one drive-thru restaurant in Rohnert Park but is looking to open a second all-vegetarian drive thru in Corte Madera.
Amy's Drive Thru is the fast food segment of the organic frozen food purveyor whose mission is to offer sustainable, organic, vegetarian and GMO-free food - fast. The Santa Rosa-based company has been in business for almost 30 years.
According to their website, Amy's Drive-Thru "is returning to the roots of American fast food, serving lovingly handcrafted food to nourish hard-working citizens, busy families and road-weary travelers."
Their Rohnert Park location serves breakfast from 6am to 11am and their lunch/dinner menu is available from 11am to 10pm. Items include organic burgers, pizzas, salads, soups, burritos, mac'n'cheese and a variety of drinks and sides. They also offer vegan and gluten-free options.
According to a recent article by SFGate, Amy's is considering the site of a former Denny's off 101 on Paradise Drive in Corte Madera.
"Today we are working to bring our organic, family-oriented dining experience to our neighbors in Corte Madera," said Schiefer in a released statement. "We are very early in the design process for Amy's Drive Thru on Paradise Drive, and look forward to sharing additional information as quickly as we can," stated Amy's director of restaurant operations, Paul Schiefer.
The company has not yet submitted an application for the project with the Corte Madera Planning Department. A potential roadblock is a city ordinance that prohibits drive thru windows. This ordinance can be revised but doing so could result in a delay for the Corte Madera restaurant.
