I mentioned in one of our recent social media posts that being a real estate agent is similar to being a matchmaker, and I’ve been thinking a lot since then about the similarities and wanted to share my thoughts with you.
Many of us have never used a professional matchmaking service, so let’s chat for a second about what a professional matchmaker actually does. (I learned this valuable bit of info courtesy of a few friends working with Kelleher International, our friend/neighbor who is an executive there; and some extensive online search. ;) )
Matchmakers are there to ensure that they find the best possible match for their clients. They meet with their clients to get a feel for their preferences, interview potential matches, arrange dates/meetings, offer dating advice and network within their community.
If that doesn’t sound like the work that we do with our homebuyers, then I don’t know what does. Here is a quick look at how we operate:
The first step in our process, and one of the most important, is meeting with our clients to determine exactly what they are looking for. This often entails discussing their current needs, as well as looking down the road to anticipate any future needs that they may have. (This could include growing their family, establishing a home office, etc.)
Once we have all of the info that we need from our client, we then start our search. We use our extensive knowledge of the area, and also tap into our incredible agent partner network to vet not only on-market properties, but exclusive off-market opportunities for our client. Properties that fit in with our clients requirements are presented and we begin the process of showing those homes to them.
Then comes the hard part- working with our clients to determine which home perfectly fits their needs, wants and desires.
