San Francisco has a lot planned for 2017, from 50th anniversary celebrations to annual events. So grab your social calendar and pencil these in!

50th Anniversary of the Summer of Love

Pier 39

The eclectic and infamous tourist attraction is celebrating its 39th anniversary with celebratory events each Friday for 39 weeks beginning in January and going through October. 

Japantown

San Francisco's Japantown in the oldest in the country and 2017 marks the 50th anniversary of the Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival. April 8-9 and April 15-16 mark the two weekends Japanese culture will be heralded, with the grand parade taking place on the 16th.

Theatre Performances

The Curran Theatre is hosting "Fun Home" and "Eclipsed", "Hamilton" (already sold out of course) will be at the SHN Orpheum Theatre March 10 through August 5 as well as “Finding Neverland,” “Into the Woods,” “Roman Holiday,” and “Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.” Celebrating its 50th anniversary, the American Conservatory Theater will include the world premiere of Khaled Hosseini’s “A Thousand Splendid Suns,” Feb. 1-26, 2017.

Museum Exhibits

From Feb. 17-May 28, 2017, the Asian Art Museum will host “Tomb Treasures: New Discoveries from China’s Han Dynasty” that showcases 100 rare selections from recent excavations. Pieces on display include a jade coffin, rare bronze bells, elaborate crafts and more.

The Walt Disney Family Museum will present the first-ever comprehensive, museum retrospective of Eyvind Earle’s distinctive style and interpretation of iconic American landscapes as a fine artist and printmaker included painting the settings for “Peter Pan” and “Lady and the Tramp.” 

Sports & Recreation

The San Francisco Deltas, a new pro soccer team, will kick off their first season in March at Kezar Stadium.

The SF Giants season home opener against the Arizona Diamondbacks at AT&T Park is April 10th.

Renown international footrace, Bay to Breakers, takes place on May 21st, with thousands of runners traversing the city streets from the Embarcadero to Ocean Beach.

For Foodies

SF Restaurant Week takes place Jan. 18-29th and is a celebration of San Francisco’s world-class dining community.  Nearly 130 restaurants throughout the city offer special prix-fixe menus to showcase their passion for sharing great food with diners. More information at www.sfrestaurantweek.com

SF Beer Week takes place from Feb. 10-19, 2017. One of the country’s greatest craft beer celebrations, the events serves up over 300 mostly new, rare and special release brews and more than 120 breweries. Tickets are already on sale for the Opening Gala at Pier 48 on Feb. 28, 2017. 

Eat Drink SF occurs from Aug. 24-27th and is is the Bay Area’s premier annual food, wine, beer and spirits festival. Four days of culinary events featuring 160+ restaurants and 70+ different beer, wine, spirits, and cocktails.
