Cirque Du Soleil: Luzia
Cirque Du Soleil is coming back to San Francisco with their latest stunning performance, Luzia.
Inspired by nature, surrealism mythology and modernity, Luzia is "a waking dream transports you to an imaginary Mexico. Experience a wondrous world that inspires you to explore your senses, enveloped in light and nurtured by rain."
Cirque Du Soleil is a Canadian entertainment company that was founded by two street performers in 1984. Today, it holds the distinction of being the largest theatrical producer in the world. Cirque Du Soleil's popularity grew globally and their performances expanded rapidly during the 1990s and 2000s. The shows employ approximately 4,000 people from over 40 different countries and create an estimated annual revenue exceeding $810 million.
Each show is a synthesis of circus styles from around the world, with its own central theme and storyline. Shows employ continuous live music, with performers rather than stagehands changing the props. Luzia's original soundtrack incorporates Mexico's cultural richness, infusing it with a combination of "brassy Mexican and Latin American sounds" and electro-pop. The costumes include flying fish, monarch butterflies, hummingbirds and more, bound together with feats of incredible strength, humor, choreography, theatre and the defining "nouveau circus" performances that define Cirque Du Soleil.
Luzia will be at AT&T Park under the Grand Chapiteau from November 17, 2016 through January 29, 2017. Shows start at 8pm with a 4:30pm matinee on Friday afternoons. An adventure for the entire family, tickets are available for purchase online.
